Curriculum
Self Esteem
Children will identify and describe positive qualities about themselves. They will show satisfaction upon completing tasks or solving problems, express their own ideas or beliefs during interactions with others, and feel safe and confident when trying new things.
Safety
Children will demonstrate safety awareness by making safe choices in daily activities, assessing risks, and distinguishing between safe and unsafe behaviors. They will accept adult guidance and respond appropriately in unsafe situations.
Breathing
Children will explore how appropriate breathing techniques can assist in relaxation and help regulate emotions, such as when they are angry or frustrated.
Affirmations
Children will develop positive feelings about themselves and identify examples of positive affirmations they can use as a coping strategy to support themselves in various situations, promoting positive thinking and self-talk. They will recognize situations where using affirmations could be particularly helpful.
Hygiene
Children will begin to understand the importance of personal hygiene and self-care skills to help prevent illness as they are introduced to the concept of germs.
Gratitude
Children will identify and practice gratitude strategies to support self-regulation, including when they are feeling stressed or tired.
Personal Care
Children will learn to initiate and respond to self-care routines that support their personal hygiene.
Stretching
Children will utilize basic stretching movements as a strategy for managing stress and promoting overall well-being. While doing so, they will demonstrate control, strength, and coordination of large muscles.
Nutrition
Children will improve their self-feeding skills using age-appropriate utensils, learn to communicate when they are hungry, thirsty, or full, and begin to express their food choices and preferences. They will also gain a basic understanding of the importance of nutrition for healthy development.
Emotional awareness
Children will understand that everyone experiences emotions and that it's okay to express them in appropriate ways. They will recognize the reasons behind their feelings as part of a cause-and-effect relationship. They will seek adult support when needed, while showing increasing skill in handling emotions independently.
