Curriculum
Emotion Recognition of Own
Children will identify and name the emotions they are feeling. They will describe and express their emotions.
Empathy
Children will develop empathy by imagining and describing how they would feel in someone else’s situation. They will learn to take and understand the perspectives of others, including those who are different from themselves.
Emotion Recognition of Others
Children will recognize other people’s emotions and demonstrate appropriate emotional responses.
Sympathy
Children will express care, concern and compassion toward others by making sympathetic statements and offering support when others are distressed.
Personal Care
Children will understand the significance of hand and body washing, dental care, and maintaining the cleanliness of personal belongings and their living space. They will take greater responsibility for their personal self-care routines.
Comparing Objects by Size and Measurement
Children will learn to use measurable attributes to make comparisons, identifying objects as the same or different, and more or less. They will be able to compare attributes of objects, such as longer, shorter, thinner, and thicker, and order a set of objects by size, length, and other dimensions.
Patterning
Children will be able to create their own patterns or methods for classifying objects. Foster their thinking about patterns by asking questions like, “What would come next?” “What happens repeatedly?” “Do you see a pattern?” and “Is this a pattern? Why do you think so?” This approach promotes critical thinking and helps children understand the concepts of order and repetition.
2D Shapes
Children will be able to recognize and do the visual discrimination, match, and sort shapes.
Directionality
Children will learn to understand and use language related to the directionality, order, and position of objects, including terms like up/down and in front/behind. They will also develop the ability to correctly follow directions that involve their own position in space, such as "Stand up" and "Move forward." This will enhance their spatial awareness and ability to navigate and respond to positional commands.
Sorting and Classifying Objects
Children will learn to sort toys or other objects by attributes such as color, shape, or size, and order objects based on size. This will help them to identify and verbalize characteristics of people, noting similarities and differences, such as observing that "Mom has black hair like me."
