Curriculum
Following Movement Directions
Children will learn the importance of listening and following directions by playing left, right, forward, back, jump, turn around, touch the ground, turn, sit down, stand up, clap your hands
Sorting and Classifying Objects
Children will learn to sort toys or other objects by attributes such as color, shape, or size, and order objects based on size. This will help them to identify and verbalize characteristics of people, noting similarities and differences, such as observing that "Mom has black hair like me."
Problem Solving
Children will be able to think and reason logically, apply mathematical knowledge in a variety of problem-solving situations, and devise novel solutions.
Addition and Subtraction Word Problems (within 20)
Children will learn to use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems that involve various scenarios such as adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions. They will utilize strategies like drawing, using concrete objects, or equations to illustrate and solve these problems.
Introduction to Early Coding and Critical Thinking
Children will develop creativity, logical thinking, and the ability to concentrate, engage children in activities that challenge them to solve problems, think critically, and focus on tasks for extended periods. These activities can include puzzles, strategy games, art projects, and reading, which help strengthen cognitive abilities and enhance mental focus.
Identifying and Comparing Object Properties
Children will be able to identify common properties, differences, and comparisons between objects and materials, such as sorting by color, shape, category, and texture.
2D Shapes
Children will be able to recognize and do the visual discrimination, match, and sort shapes.
Solving Three-Number Addition Problem
Children will learn to solve word problems that involve the addition of three whole numbers, with the total sum being less than or equal to 20. They will use various methods like objects, drawings, and equations with symbols for the unknown numbers to represent and solve the problem effectively.
Understanding Money and Solving Word Problems
Children will solve word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, utilizing $ and ¢ symbols appropriately. They will first learn to recognize and understand the values of different bills and coins. Reinforcement can be achieved through matching worksheets that link each coin to its value, enhancing their money recognition skills.
Comparing Objects by Size and Measurement
Children will learn to use measurable attributes to make comparisons, identifying objects as the same or different, and more or less. They will be able to compare attributes of objects, such as longer, shorter, thinner, and thicker, and order a set of objects by size, length, and other dimensions.
