Learning Outcome

Children will recognize that water, rocks, soil, and living organisms are found on Earth’s surface. They will learn that water can be found in oceans, rivers, lakes, and ponds. They will observe different types of rocks and learn where they can be found.

Children will practice pronouncing the days of the week and arrange them in the correct order. Children will be able to name and identify the basic cardinal directions: North, South, East, and West. They will understand what a compass is and how it functions. For example, children will learn that a compass needle always points north and how to use this information to determine other directions.

Children will identify that air is an essential part of the environment. They will recognize that humans, animals, and plants need air to breathe and live. For example, they will learn that people need air to fill their lungs, animals need air to survive, and plants need air to grow and make food.

Children will be able to describe and compare the properties of different types of matter, including solids, liquids, and gases. They will learn that solids have a fixed shape, liquids take the shape of their container but have a fixed volume, and gases spread out to fill their container.

Children will make observations to understand that young plants and animals are similar to, but not exactly like, their parents. They will also observe that a particular breed of dog looks like its parents but is not exactly the same.

Classifying Leaves

Learning Outcome

Children will classify and arrange objects of nature, particularly focusing on leaves. They will discover the structure and function of the layers of a leaf. Children will distinguish between different types of leaves and label the parts of a leaf. For example, they will learn to identify the stem, veins, and edge of a leaf and understand how each part helps the leaf function.
