Curriculum
Weekdays
Children will practice pronouncing the days of the week and arrange them in the correct order. They will become familiar with the names of the weekdays—Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—and will use these terms to describe their weekly activities. For example, children will say and memorize the days in order and discuss what activities they do on different days
Composting
Children will understand the basics of composting and learn that it involves turning food scraps and yard waste into nutrient-rich soil. They will describe how composting benefits the local environment by helping plants grow better, reducing waste, and keeping the environment clean.
Months
Children will practice pronouncing the months of the year and learn to arrange the months in the correct order. They will become familiar with the names of the months—January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December—and use these terms to describe yearly events and activities
Resources- Water
Children will recognize that water, rocks, soil, and living organisms are found on Earth’s surface. They will learn that water can be found in oceans, rivers, lakes, and ponds. They will observe different types of rocks and learn where they can be found.

Children will identify and describe basic land resources, including soil and water. They will learn that soil provides nutrients for plants to grow and water is essential for all living things to survive.
Continent and Oceans
Children will be able to recognize and locate the seven continents and the five oceans on a map or globe. They will learn the names of the continents—Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, Australia, and South America—and the names of the oceans—Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Southern, and Arctic. For example, children will be able to point out where each continent and ocean is located and describe some basic characteristics of each
Resources- Air
Children will identify that air is an essential part of the environment. They will recognize that humans, animals, and plants need air to breathe and live. For example, they will learn that people need air to fill their lungs, animals need air to survive, and plants need air to grow and make food.
Cardinal Directions
Children will be able to name and identify the basic cardinal directions: North, South, East, and West. They will understand what a compass is and how it functions. For example, children will learn that a compass needle always points north and how to use this information to determine other directions.
Global Warming
Children will learn about global warming and understand their role in protecting the environment and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. They will learn that global warming means the Earth is getting warmer because of activities such as burning fossil fuels and cutting down trees. Children will explore simple ways to help reduce greenhouse gases, such as using less electricity, planting trees, and recycling.
