Phonological Awareness
Children will develop A-Z phonological awareness, visual recognition, and an understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).
Conventions of Standard English
Children will demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
Tracing Uppercase and Lowercase
Children will understand how to draw most of the upper- and lowercase letters.
Frequent Nouns and Verbs
Children will be able to use frequently occurring nouns and verbs.
Singular and Plural Usage
Children will form regular plural nouns orally by adding /s/ or /es/ (e.g., dog, dogs; wish, wishes).
Question Words
Children will be able to understand and use question words (interrogatives) such as who, what, where, when, why, and how.
Prepositions
Children will be able to use the most frequently occurring prepositions, such as to, from, in, out, on, off, for, of, by, and with.
Sentence Building
Children will be able to produce and expand complete sentences in shared language activities, such as creating a story together or describing a picture as a group.
